Lead Mechanical Designer

What will you do as a Lead Designer?

As Lead Designer you are part of the Mechanical Engineering group at Neways Technologies. You are responsible for drawing up specifications of mechanical systems or products that we develop and produce for and in consultation with our customers. You take care of the review with the customer and fulfill an intermediary role between the customer, supplier and department. By asking the right questions in the mechanical field, you get the customer wishes on the table so that we can offer a solution that optimally meets the customer’s needs. In addition to your own work, you are also able to manage several juniors and teach them the tricks of the trade. As a Lead Designer in the mechanical team, you are the point of contact for the project manager and for the system architects. In this position you also work together with the Electromechanical Engineering team and the Embedded Systems teams.

Your tasks also include:

  • Designing, elaborating, implementing, testing, and documenting mechanical constructions and (parts) of equipment;
  • Professional / technical guidance and implementation of assigned project(s) with attention to quality, costs and planning;
  • Being and remaining aware of available (production) technology and transferring this knowledge to your co-workers;
  • Make recommendations to improve quality;
  • Quality assurance in projects and studies in accordance with the quality system.

Your profile and DNA:

  • A bachelor or master degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar;
  • 5 to 10 years work experience in a relevant position as for example mechanical designer, engineer, structural engineer or product development engineer;
  • Skills for leading a project-team;
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following techniques: injection molding, diecast design, shielding, sealing and / or robustness of products applicable in relatively extreme situations.
  • Experience with NX (plus) or another 3D design package;
  • Good communication and written skills in Dutch and English.
