What will you do as a Legal Counsel?

As a Legal Counsel you will deliver all legal services, directly and using external resource. You operate as a valued and integral member of the Neways Legal Department and as a key business partner to provide high quality legal services and strategic legal support and advice to all of Neways’s operations in Germany. In this diverse role with lots of responsibility, you will work on a wide range of corporate & commercial matters to support the local commercial, manufacturing, R&D and other entities, many of which contain international elements.

In this full time, office-based role with remote working flexibility, you can either work from our operating company in Riesa or Neunkichen, and you will report directly to the General Counsel of Neways who is based in The Netherlands.

You are the trusted advisor to our business and provide high quality legal services with integrity and professionalism – Tom Nievergeld (General Counsel – Neways Electronics International)


Your duties will include:

  • Prepare and review  any type of commercial contracts, and support negotiations;
  • Prepare template agreements and Terms & Conditions;
  • Provide pre-litigation/claims support;
  • Oversee litigation & represent Neways in matters before courts, government agencies, or other authorities to protect the organisation’s legal & business interests;
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements and Neways Group policies;
  • Support local real estate matters;
  • Support local employment issues;
  • Local implementation of Corporate functions decisions (including compliance programmes, training etc);
  • Advise management on all legal matters and the potential impact of current and future laws and regulations;
  • Evaluate the organisation’s activities, policies, practices and transactions to ensure they comply with all relevant laws and regulations;
  • Manage external legal service providers and prepare materials to ensure the organisation’s interests are well represented.

Your Profile and DNA:

  • Master of Laws degree or higher;
  • Fully qualified lawyer authorized to practice law in Germany;
  • Six or more years’ relevant post qualification experience, ideally in an in-house environment and preferably in the technology sector;
  • Confident with fantastic interpersonal skills, commercially minded, highly organized and able to work effectively in teams;
  • Able to adapt quickly, communicate effectively, manage conflicts and solve problems;
  • A strong personal motivation to do what is required to get the job done, self-assured, proactive, open and flexible;
  • Fluent in German and English, written and verbal;
  • Willing to travel regularly between our operating companies in Riesa, Neunkirchen and Erfurt, and occasionaly to other locations of Neways, mainly to our head office in Son, The Netherlands.
