Neways partnered with a global leader in marine and energy technologies on the development and industrialization of advanced engine safety control modules for large scale engine platforms. The project focused on the development of safety critical electronics responsible for monitoring and controlling engine safety functionality within marine and power generation environments.
The collaboration combines hardware, software and mechanical development with prototype production, industrialization and preparation for scalable series manufacturing.
Challenges
Engine safety systems for marine and energy applications require highly reliable electronics capable of monitoring emergency, shutdown and sensor inputs while controlling critical engine functions under demanding operational conditions.
The project involved the development of multiple safety module variants supporting both SIL capable and non SIL capable functionalities for different engine platforms. Both modules shared a common hardware base while supporting different operational requirements, creating additional complexity in system architecture, validation and lifecycle management.
To meet these requirements, Neways supported the complete development process, including hardware, embedded software and enclosure design, while closely aligning engineering activities with prototype validation, field testing and future manufacturability.
The solution also required preparation for scalable production, integrated verification processes and long term design maintenance within a highly controlled industrial environment.
