Scaling semiconductor metrology with Nearfield Instruments
Neways and Nearfield Instruments are collaborating on advanced semiconductor metrology solutions for next generation chip manufacturing. The partnership focuses on the development and industrialization of electronics, modules and control cabinets for QUADRA, Nearfield Instruments’ automated in-line 3D scanning probe metrology system.
Since the start of the collaboration in 2024, Neways has supported Nearfield Instruments with a broad range of mission critical electronics and industrialization expertise to help scale production of the QUADRA platform for leading semiconductor manufacturers worldwide.
Challenges
The semiconductor industry continues to push towards smaller nodes, more complex 3D structures and higher production yields. This creates increasing demand for highly advanced metrology solutions capable of combining extremely high accuracy with high throughput in semiconductor fab environments.
To support this challenge, Nearfield Instruments developed QUADRA, an automated in-line 3D scanning probe metrology solution designed for high volume semiconductor manufacturing. The complexity of the system requires advanced electronics, precise control systems and scalable industrialization capabilities.
Neways supports this with expertise in power, data and control systems, supplying electronics ranging from overall machine controls to critical electronic components for the sensor systems at the core of the machine. Beyond production, Neways also contributes engineering and industrialization expertise to support the ramp up towards larger scale system deployment.
