Supporting Elekta in precision cancer treatment
Neways supports Elekta in the development and production of advanced electronics for the Unity platform, combining MRI imaging with precision radiation therapy for highly accurate cancer treatment. Through close collaboration, Neways contributes to critical electronics for power distribution, safety systems and network distribution, while also supporting testing and worldwide system implementation.
Challenges
Magnetic resonance guided radiation therapy combines highly complex imaging and treatment technologies within one integrated system. This requires extremely reliable electronics, precise system integration and uncompromising safety performance in a healthcare environment where accuracy is critical.
The challenge was not only to support advanced imaging and radiation technologies, but also to ensure stable system performance, reliability and safety throughout clinical operation. This demanded close collaboration between Elekta and Neways during development, testing and implementation phases.
Neways supported the project with expertise in mission critical electronics, testing and system integration, helping ensure the reliability and performance of the Unity platform in demanding clinical environments.
Key results
The collaboration contributed to the successful deployment of more than 50 Unity systems in clinical operation worldwide, supporting hospitals in delivering advanced precision radiation therapy treatments.
Today, around 5,000 patients have been treated using the Unity platform, benefiting from highly accurate and personalized cancer treatment enabled by the combination of MRI imaging and radiation therapy technology.
