Neways supports solar car and e-car project
The Neways Group is always looking for interesting partnerships with Universities and student initiatives to support the skills of our future innovators. In doing so we focus on the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), because these topics correspond with our own business field and expertise. Currently there are running two sponsoring projects where especially the colleagues from our development department (Neways Technologies) are involved.
As in the previous years we are joining the solar car project of the University of Eindhoven (The Netherlands) as a Gold Partner. This comprises the support with materials (PCBAs) as well as engineering support. We produce all designed controlling PCBAs which are used for the main functionality of the car – for example CPU boards to control everything and local AUX boards. Furthermore we help the team in cable design and with the review of all their electronic designs (schematic and PCB layout). As a tradition all solar cars worldwide participate every two years in the so called “Bridgestone World Solar Challenge“ in Australia, which will take place this year from the 13th until the 20th of October. In 2017 the solar team “Stella Vie” won this race in the category “cruiser class”. (https://solarteameindhoven.nl)
The second sponsoring project of Neways Electronics, also as a Gold Partner, is the e-car project „Starcraft“ of students of the University Ilmenau (Germany). Their goal is to construct and build a new electric and autonomous racing car. Neways is supporting this team for the first time and helps especially with hardware and software reviews as well as with the production of prototypes. As a highlight the team „Starcraft“ will compete with teams from all over the world in the „Formula Student“ race in Spain (20. – 25. August 2019) in the driverless class. The look of the e-car is still a secret. As soon as there is some new information we will publish it here.
Stay tuned…
