Enabling safe and reliable vehicle side charging for electric vehicles

Neways partners with Mennekes on the development of advanced vehicle side charging solutions for next generation electric vehicles. As charging power continues to increase, thermal management and safety at the vehicle interface become increasingly critical for reliable charging performance.

Within this collaboration, Neways develops and manufactures multiple flex rigid PCB variants with integrated temperature sensing functionality for vehicle side charging sockets. These electronics enable real time temperature monitoring during charging, helping ensure safe and stable power transfer in demanding automotive environments.

Challenges

Vehicle side charging sockets operate under high power conditions where heat buildup can directly impact charging efficiency, reliability and safety. At the same time, the electronics integrated within the charging interface must remain highly compact, robust and reliable to meet strict automotive requirements.

To address these challenges, Neways combines expertise in power, data and control systems with advanced flex rigid PCB technology and embedded sensing capabilities. The integrated temperature monitoring functionality enables continuous real time monitoring within the charging socket, supporting safer charging performance for high power electric vehicle applications.

In addition to the technical complexity, the solution also needs to be scalable and manufacturable for automotive production volumes. From early design phases through industrialization, Neways supports the complete development process to ensure both technical performance and production readiness.

By combining our capabilities in complex electronics and industrialization with Mennekes’ system expertise, we contribute to reliable and scalable charging solutions for next-generation electric vehicles
