Circular Services
Neways offers pioneering circular services that span from repair, to refurbishment, to entire legacy product redesigns. Building on decades of experience repairing complex products for larger client systems, Neways today has a dedicated Circular Services capability that includes dedicated repair facilities, experienced engineers, and a large team of Neways-educated repair analysts and mechanics.
Working with leading international clients, our circular service work consistently delivers solutions that are time- and cost-efficient and provide substantial sustainability benefits.
Repair, requalification and upgrade
Neways Circular Services handles over 10,000 incoming customer products every year. Product interventions vary from hardware repairs, to software upgrades, to component replacements or system validation projects. We receive a batch of modules and thoroughly test and validate their proper use and fitness for another lifecycle. We are able to return 80-90% of products received back to productive use, delivering significant cost benefits and mitigating potential supply chain constraints on parts in high demand.
Redesign
Today more than ever, redesigning products can be an effective cornerstone of life cycle management. Often, redesigns are the only way to overcome end-of-life challenges in complex systems, or an excellent way to make parts of these systems easier to produce using more modern techniques. At Neways, engineers account for almost 20% of the workforce. With decades of development engineering experience, our engineers are uniquely suited to tackle redesign challenges for our customers. With strong acquired skills in modularity, commonality, and circularity our engineers can redesign existing electronics, modules, racks, and cabinets, no matter how old they are, and how much of their initial design remains fully documented. Redesigns can lead to up to 90% higher resource efficiency, and lifecycle extensions fit for additional 20+ years of reliable use.
Service parts
We have partnered with some of our most sophisticated customers on many different generations of products. Often, a successful installed base relies on keeping subsystems from older generations readily available in case of system failures. Neways serves its clients with over 100,000 service parts every year, in industries ranging from automotive, to rolling stock, to medical equipment and semiconductor manufacturing. We can cater to whatever potential volume and storage requirements our clients’ products require – guaranteeing minimal installed base downtime for their users.
Our unique capabilities
-
Circular Service Center
With volumes of circular services consistently increasing, Neways opened a dedicated Circular Service Center in 2024. Keeping servicing flows separate from newbuild production delivers servicing that is uniquely fast, capable, and – by extension – cost-efficient. Dedicated testing and procurement ensure no hold-ups ever occur, and service projects are executed with complete dedication. -
Project design
In servicing, no two projects are alike. We can offer ad-hoc repairs of individual products, but also design a fixed-term ‘line-based’ refurbishment operation; for example to refurbish one particular module in as short and precise a timespan as possible. Our capabilities allow for a requalification of even the most complex products within 1 day in such a setup. -
Harvesting
When our customers’ final products contain higher-level assemblies, themselves consisting of many submodules, Neways offers unique ‘harvesting’ services. In harvesting, customers can send these assemblies back to us, where they are disassembled into their constituent submodules. These modules are tested and requalified, and repaired or upgraded if necessary, before being reabsorbed into the supply chain. Harvesting often leads to more than 30% of assembly value being recovered.
